The Black Mamba

The Black Mamba is a long, slender snake and one of the fastest on our planet, reaching speeds up to 12.5 miles per hour! Unlike what its name might suggest, it's not actually black. Its skin ranges from grey to dark brown, with a lighter underside. But, if you see the inside of its mouth, you’ll spot the inky-black color that gives this serpent its name. Black Mambas are expert climbers and swimmers, making them quite the adventurous reptiles.
